Is this marathoners’ comfort and performance solution the next big breakthrough in golf shoe tech?

Home » Is this marathoners’ comfort and performance solution the next big breakthrough in golf shoe tech?

Imagine golf shoes that feel as soft and cushioned as top-of-the-line running shoes. After a round, your feet feel as energized as when you stepped up to the first tee. And months after wearing them on and off the course, you realize they’ve kept their amazing comfort level and fit without any degradation, whatsoever.

That’s how TRUE linkswear’s Antigravity golf shoe has essentially raised the bar for 2026. It provides all-day comfort without sacrificing performance. But it also redefines lightweight stability for unpredictable conditions and long days. Its new Pebax Superfoam midsole – the material found in elite marathon runners’ shoes – offers a unique combination of featherweight cushioning, lively rebound, and long-term resiliency. Think of it as a low-compression ride that feels effortless under your feet while maintaining structure and energy return throughout an entire round or a full day off the course. It’s no wonder that this high-performance thermoplastic elastomer is widely used in high-performance running shoes.

We chatted with Jason Moore, TRUE’s Co-Founder and CEO, to find out more how this revolutionary material is making its mark in golf.

Marathon running and walking 18 holes put similar demands on your feet. What makes you so excited to introduce a golf shoe with a Pebax midsole?

There’s no doubt that hiking up and down hills for seven miles with a weighted bag on your back creates real physical demands on your body — especially your feet. Walking golf is endurance. It’s repetition. It loads over time. Our entire mission has always been to make that walk as enjoyable as possible, which is exactly why we’re so excited to introduce Pebax into our offering. Its lightweight nature and ultra-responsive cushioning help your feet feel noticeably better at the end of the round — not just on the first tee. When we realized we could meaningfully improve how golfers feel on the back nine, we knew this was a step forward. We can’t wait for players to experience the difference.

What was your reaction the first time you tested a shoe with Pebax?

Initially, we noticed how incredibly lightweight it was — up to 50 percent lighter than traditional midsole foams. That’s something you feel immediately when you pick it up and lace it on. But the most remarkable difference shows up at the end of the day. The responsive cushioning, with up to 30 percent more rebound than many competitive foams, really fuels each step and helps reduce the cumulative impact of a long day on your feet. After a full round of walking, your feet simply feel better. That end-of-day relief was our true a-ha moment.

What was your design process for taking something that’s proven in the running world and turning it into a functional, effective golf shoe?

We took a foam that provides a real competitive advantage — more energy return and less weight — and applied it to our time-tested fundamentals of building high-performance golf shoes for players competing at the highest levels. At its core, it’s still TRUE DNA: close to the ground, incredible grip, lateral stability, natural movement, and ergonomic design. We simply infused that foundation with technology originally engineered for running and racing. The result is a golf shoe that enhances performance without sacrificing feel or connection.

A recycled Ripstop upper reinforced by a TPU mudguard looks sporty and stylish, but it’s also built for the elements and easy to clean. What makes this such a breakthrough?

We wanted the upper’s design language to reflect the performance technology inside the shoe. The Ripstop material delivers lightweight durability with a modern, fast aesthetic inspired by motion. The TPU mudguard adds structure and protection in high-wear areas, especially in wet or rugged conditions. But it’s not just about looks. It’s engineered to keep you moving confidently on the course, on the trail, and anywhere in between. It’s technical, durable, easy to maintain, and purpose-built for real-world use.

How do you see the Antigravity working for the golf course and beyond?

We originally set out to build the next ultra high-end performance golf shoe. The result absolutely delivers on that. But it also proved to be incredibly versatile. For the wear testers who’ve been living in these for the last few years, they’ve gone everywhere: trails, offices, international travel, even skydiving. The comfort, style, and versatility don’t just hold up,  they often exceed expectations across environments. It performs at a high level on course, but it transitions effortlessly into the rest of your lie.

Because of the waterproof mudguard, is this shoe is slightly less breathable than others? If I want a companion TRUE shoe with more breathability, what would you suggest?

We intentionally built a highly waterproof and durable upper, but we also engineered the tongue using neoprene so it’s both water-resistant and breathable. That means the shoe remains comfortable even in warm weather. If you’re looking for a similar ride within the TRUE lineup with maximum breathability and waterproof performance, the TRUE Ascent PNWProof is an excellent option. It features a fully breathable and waterproof shell combined with our proprietary outsole that incorporates air channels to increase airflow. It’s a strong performer, even in hot conditions.

Please comfort anyone doubting a shoe this light and cushioned can also deliver performance and stability.

Our goal with this shoe — and any TRUE we build — is simple: your body is already a powerful tool. In fact, many high-performance players can generate maximum ball speed and power barefoot. Our role isn’t to interfere with that natural ability. It’s to support it. We embrace natural motion, keep you close to the ground for stability and control, and provide just the right amount of responsive cushioning to stay comfortable all day. This shoe doesn’t compromise performance for comfort — it enhances both.
